All visitors must generally meet the following criteria:
- Hold a valid passport
- Be in good health that can be proved with a medical exam, if this is requested
- Be able to pay for their proposed stay in Canada
- Have ties to home country and an intention to return home after their trip
- Can prove the purpose of their visit
Some people require a visa or ETA to come to Canada as a tourist or visitor.

EXCEPTIONS
Citizens of Brazil, Bulgaria or Romania who have had a Canadian temporary visa in the last ten years or who currently have a US visa will need an ETA, not a visa, if arriving by plane.
